When buyers ask an AI who to call, be the name it gives
Your next customer may never see a results page. They ask ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini who to call, get a handful of names, and act on them. AI search optimization is the work of making sure your business is in that handful — findable, machine-readable, and citable.
Available on its own. This is the one OpsPoint service you can start without the full build. It is also Phase 3 of every full engagement.
Why this matters now
AI assistants don't rank ten blue links — they answer with a few names and move on. Those answers are assembled from structured, citable content: machine-readable business facts, marked-up product and location pages, text an assistant can quote. Most businesses haven't published any of it, which means the answers are being built from whatever exists — a directory listing, a competitor's page, something outdated.
That's the opportunity and the urgency in one: the citable layer is cheap to build relative to what it influences, and in most categories nobody has built it yet. Whoever builds it first gets named first.
What we implement
AI visibility audit and baseline
Before anything changes, we measure where you stand: how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google's AI results answer a panel of questions your real buyers ask — who gets named, who gets cited, and where you appear or don't. Every engagement starts from a baseline, so movement is measured rather than asserted.
Technical foundations
An assistant can't cite a site it can't reliably read. Crawlability, indexation, site speed, canonicals, sitemaps — and uptime monitoring with alerting, because a site that goes down quietly loses both customers and crawl trust while nobody's watching.
Structured data, everywhere it counts
JSON-LD markup across every page template: the organization, the locations you serve, the products or services you offer, the questions you answer. Structured data is how machines stop guessing what your business is — it is the difference between being parsed and being skipped.
Machine-readable content
Clear, factual, well-structured pages that answer buyer questions in a form assistants can lift and cite — plus an llms.txt file that hands AI systems a clean summary of who you are and what you do. We publish our own; view this site's source and you'll find everything we're describing.
Programmatic citable pages
Most operations-heavy businesses sit on an unbuilt asset: catalogs, service lists, and markets with photography and data but no indexable pages. We generate them programmatically — per product line, per market — so every question an assistant might answer about your category has a page of yours to draw on.
Ongoing visibility monitoring
AI answers move as models and indexes update. We keep running the buyer-question panel month over month, report who the assistants name and what changed, and turn each report into the next set of optimization actions.
What you get in the first 30 days
- The AI visibility baseline report against your buyers' real questions
- The technical fix list — and the fixes that fit inside the month, shipped
- Structured data deployed across your page templates
- llms.txt and machine-readable business summaries published
- The first batch of programmatic pages, built from your existing data
- The monthly monitoring cadence, running
Built for operations-heavy businesses
This work pays back fastest where there is real inventory behind it: rental catalogs, fleets, service areas, product lines — the businesses in the industries we serve. Deep catalogs with strong photography and thin indexable text are the single most common pattern we find, and the fastest to turn into citable pages.
Questions, answered
How is AI search optimization different from SEO?
Traditional SEO optimizes for a ranked list of links. AI search optimization — sometimes called answer-engine or generative-engine optimization — targets the answers themselves: the few names an assistant returns when a buyer asks who to call. The work overlaps with technical SEO, but it adds structured data depth, machine-readable content, and measurement against the assistants rather than only the rankings.
Can you guarantee we'll be recommended by ChatGPT or Gemini?
No — and nobody honestly can, because the assistants re-crawl, re-rank and update on their own cadence. What we do instead is implement the complete citable layer, measure your visibility against a baseline of real buyer questions, and report movement transparently. We would rather show you the measurement than sell you a guarantee.
How do you measure AI visibility?
We maintain a panel of the questions your buyers actually ask — by market, by service, by product category — and run it against ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Google's AI results on a schedule. Each report shows who was named, what was cited, and movement since baseline.
Does this replace our current marketing?
No. It makes the rest of it work harder: ads, content and referrals all benefit when the underlying site is machine-readable, fast, and citable. AI search optimization is a layer under your demand generation, not a substitute for it.
